Tottenham striker Richarlison has been told he needs to back up his words insisting he is good enough to be number 9 for club and country and has ‘one more chance’ to do so in this international break.

UOL Esporte cover the Brazilian today after a difficult start to the season for him at Tottenham following Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich.

That has left a hole in Tottenham’s forward line and Richarlison has been handed the chance to fill it, with Ange Postecoglou utilising him as the main centre forward at the beginning of this season.

Richarlison has struggled to reward the faith shown in him, though, with a series of hit and miss performances ending up with him sat on the bench for the win over Burnley last weekend.

That game saw Son Heung-min start as the central striker and score a hattrick, further heaping the pressure on Richarlison to prove his worth moving forwards.

It’s a similar situation for Brazil, where he is also one of several options as the number nine. He’s been handed that role by several managers and ‘remains prestigious’ under current interim coach Diniz say UOL.

That status is slowly slipping away though as he continues to struggle to find the back of the net and they say he ‘will have to do what he has been to’ at Tottenham and start scoring to stop it disappearing entirely.

With just one goal in five games, he’s very much not in form and with competitors Gabriel Jesus and Matheus Cunha scoring more goals than him since the World Cup, the pressure is on.

This current international break is his latest chance to prove he’s worth of the faith being shown in him, or just like at Tottenham, he may find himself on the sidelines.
