Manchester United have several players who are in their final year of contract, and this includes Diogo Dalot and David de Gea.
The Red Devils retain an option to extend the duo’s deals further by a year. The two have impressed after Erik ten Hag took over at Old Trafford in the summer.
Recent claims have stated that Manchester United want to tie down the right-back to a new deal. On the other hand, there have been conflicting claims over the goalkeeper’s future.
Among potential replacements is Diogo Costa, who signed an extension at FC Porto earlier this month. The new deal includes a €75m release clause. On Friday, A Bola stated the 23-year-old’s price tag has not scared off the Premier League side, who are attentive to his situation.
“Diogo Costa is already one of the best in the world. He will be a reference, or even the reference, worldwide,” Dalot told RTP, relayed by Record.
Like Costa, the Manchester United player also came up through the ranks of Porto’s youth system. He has not closed the door on returning to the Primeira Liga side.
“Would I like to return to FC Porto? Yes, it is a cycle that is not closed. If everything comes together, one day I will return to FC Porto,” he explained.
On his form for Manchester United, Dalot said: “I started the season well and I’m having a lot of playing time. I want to demonstrate that I have the capacity to remain at this level, I want to be even better.”
