On October 9th, we covered a report from Telegraf, who claimed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will be in attendance for Serbia’s clash against Montenegro during the international break.
It was claimed that he will be watching Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
A few reports also mentioned the Portuguese tactician will also watch Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savic, who has been reported as a Manchester United target for many months.
At one point it was even claimed a €100m offer had arrived from Old Trafford.
Mourinho watched the UEFA Nations League fixture at the Stadion Pod Goricom on Thursday as Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic’s brace helped The Eagles to a 2-0 win away from home.
The Serie A midfielder was asked about his thoughts on Mourinho being in the stadium to watch the match live in action.
“I’m a Lazio player, but it’s obvious that I was pleased that a coach of his stature came to see the game,” Milinković-Savic, as quoted by Calciomercato.it.
“I read a little bit everywhere he was here at the stadium to see me play, but that does not mean anything. Maybe he was not here for me, but for someone else.”
Milenkovic played the full 90 minutes for his country, while the Lazio player came on later in the second half. It hardly makes sense for United to sign another midfielder, which is why we believe he was focusing on the Serbian centre-back, as reported by Telegraf.
