If Il Messaggero are to be believed on Wednesday, then Manchester United have already made the first move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, making a €100m offer and seeing it turned down by Lazio’s owner, Claudio Lotito.

The Italians are said to want €20m more for their star midfielder, and with just over 24 hours left in the Premier League transfer window, the Red Devils don’t have much time to find the extra cash down the back of their many sofas at Old Trafford.

Once again, this all comes down to whether or not Paul Pogba is sold before Thursday at 5pm, and since that seems extremely, and we mean that in the strongest possible way, unlikely, we have our doubts about this.

Furthermore, when said bid was made isn’t revealed, and this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen reports of Manchester United placing a bid for SMS (we’re not writing his name out more than once, it’s effort), so it could just be recycled old news to make things sound more exciting than they actually are.

For now, the Serbia international is enjoying his preseason, pictured driving a go kart in Gazzetta dello Sport, and is simply waiting to see if anything happens, with his agent, Mateja Kezman, in constant talks with Lotito and a certain Jorge Mendes, who has great contacts at Manchester United and Real Madrid, the other interested party.

Il Tempo also have an article on the matter, explaining today is a ‘decisive day’ because of the upcoming deadline (no sh**, Sherlock), and the Red Devils need to make a move today.

Look, we’re not saying this isn’t going to happen, but there’s a really strong chance this isn’t going to happen.
