Nottingham Forest and Mainz have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of Moussa Niakhaté.

According to Le Parisien journalist Benjamin Quarez, the transfer is ready to proceed, with the defender expected to sign for the Reds ‘in the coming days’. It’s said he’ll join the club on a four-year contract.

Reporter Fabrice Hawkins is another one covering the deal, claiming the move is ‘done’, with the 26-year-old ready to switch to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest’s interest in Niakhaté has been going on for a few weeks, with both the German and French media reporting the chase.

There was a time Bild claimed Nottingham Forest had placed an of less than €10m, and that did not please Mainz, who wanted a bigger transfer fee and didn’t ‘even want to deal’ with the English club any longer, as their idea would be to make at least €15m from the sale.

As neither of these latest claims say how much Nottingham Forest are paying for the transfer, that piece of information should come shortly.
