Nottingham Forest are making an attempt for the signing of Lorenzo Insigne, the Italian media reveals.

TuttoMercatoWeb writes that the Tricky Trees have ‘presented an offer’ to sign the Toronto star.

It’s said Nottingham Forest’s intention is to sign Insigne on a loan with an option to buy, which could become obligatory in certain conditions.

The problem for the Reds is that the 32-year-old is said to be more interested in staying in Canada, where he has a contract with the MLS side until 2026.

The outlet recalls previous quotes from Insigne where he claimed he’s happy in North America, where his family have now fully adapted.

Insigne left Napoli to join Toronto on a free move in the summer of 2022. Since then, he had 11 goals and six assists in 33 appearances for the MLS side.

That’s a quite a creative plan from Nottingham Forest to reinforce themselves at the end of the transfer window, to say the least.

And it’s also interesting that the player isn’t keen on giving it a shot in the Premier League, even though he was nearly forgotten in European football, meaning Nuno Espírito Santo will have to be extra convincing.
