At the weekend, Nottingham Forest sealed a 3-0 win over West Ham United.
The result saw Nottingham Forest climb to the third spot in the table, ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Monday’s edition of Het Nieuwsblad have a report on Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.
The 32-year-old kept his fourth clean and joins Manchester United’s André Onana as the stopper with most clean sheets in the Premier League this season. The outlet says he ‘plays an undeniable role’ in Nottingham Forest’s success’.
Sels arrived at the Premier League side in January, after spending over five years at RC Strasbourg.
The Belgium international kept one clean sheet and conceded 27 goals for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in the second half of last season. He has impressed this season, conceding seven goals from 10 matches.
Het Nieuwsblad state there were doubts whether Sels could be the No.1 for the Reds, who added Carlos Miguel to their squad in the summer.
There were question marks over his decision to leave Strasbourg for Nottingham Forest, who were then fighting to avoid relegation. The stopper was one of the best in Ligue 1, while he was carrying his ‘failed at Newcastle United’ label in England.
With his performances for the Premier League side, Sels has removed any doubts and ‘silenced all his critics’. This should also help the player show Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco why he should consider him for the No.1 spot.
