Nottingham Forest followed Wolves lead by looking towards Portuguese football for Championship recruits.
The club have signed several players from Liga NOS, with differing degrees of success, and it appears they seem keen to continue the method in future transfer windows.
Sunday’s edition of Record reports Nottingham Forest had an official in Portugal on Saturday to watch the match between Setubal and Benfica, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
There’s usually several English clubs at Benfica matches, but this time it was only Forest and Manchester United, with the latter attending nearly every Benfica match for quite some time.
Record concentrates on the Championship club and points out the business done between Nottingham Forest and Benfica in recent transfer windows. There’s no indication of which, if any, Benfica player the English club have their eye on this time, and a lot will depend on who the Lisbon side want to let go of.
It’s believed future transfer business could be ahead, with Record saying Nottingham Forest enjoy ‘privileged relations’ with Benfica, suggesting they’ve got a better chances than others when it comes to signing fringe players at the club.
