In the many times the football media speaks of Bolgona striker Sydney van Hooijdonk, there’s usually a mention to his father. The 23-year-old is the son of Pierre van Hooijdonk, who had a long career in Europe, having played for Nottingham Forest between 1996 and 1999.
It turns out there should now be another reason to recall their relationship with the Tricky Trees, as the young player is linked with a move to the City Ground.
The information comes from Italian newspaper Corriere Di Bologna, who claim Nottingham Forest made a poll for his signing ‘in the last few hours’.
What makes the situation good for the Reds is that Bologna aren’t keen on keeping Van Hooijdonk this summer. The player has just returned from a loan in the Netherlands and is now seen as an opportunity for the Serie A side to cash in with his sale.
The striker scored 19 goals in his season with Heerenveen, and that’s what could attract good bids for him in the summer window.
It’s still to be said how much Nottingham Forest are willing to pay for his signing. He has a contract with Bologna until 2025, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €3m.
