Nottingham Forest have made an offer for Valencia full-back Jesús Vázquez, but the Spanish side are resisting their efforts.
That’s according to COPE, who say Steve Cooper’s side are competing with Feyenoord for the highly-rated defender’s signature.
They explain that Valencia ‘urgently need to sell’ this summer, but so far no clubs have offered them the figures they want for the players they would be happy to sell.
There have, however, been offers for players on the ‘second row’, and Vázquez is one of those courting attention.
COPE has learned that both Nottingham Forest and Feyenoord have ‘already approached’ the La Liga side to ‘make their proposals’ for the player.
They go to great length to insist these were not simply declarations of interest or phone calls but a ‘hard and fast offer’ of more than €5m.
So far, these approaches have been met with a negative response from Valencia, who have made Vázquez non-transferable this summer.
The player has also made it clear he would like to stay at the Mestalla and believes he will flourish under new manager Gennaro Gattuso.
Both of those factors seemingly make it difficult for Nottingham Forest to get their man, but they’ve made the first efforts nonetheless.
