This summer, while Manchester United struggled to get Antony from Ajax, we repeatedly saw the Red Devils being linked to PSV star Cody Gakpo, who was said to be the main alternative for the position.

Since the Brazilian is now ready to be announced for the Old Trafford side, it seems the Dutchman is going nowhere. Unless another Premier League club can reach a deal.

This seems to be the case of Nottingham Forest, who according to reports from the Netherlands, have made an attempt to land Gakpo from PSV.

Eindhovens Gladbad journalist Rik Elfrink writes that the City Ground side offered around €25m to sign the winger.

PSV, however, ‘absolutely rejected’ the bid from Nottingham Forest, considering it ‘too little’. They’re actually interested in making twice as much, believing he’s worth €50m.

With a couple of days until the end of the transfer window, it’s not clear whether the Reds would be interested in a new attempt to take Gakpo from the Eredivisie side.

With undoubtedly one of the most interesting transfer windows of the summer, Nottingham Forest already spent €157m on signings so far.
