Ansu Fati is Barcelona’s latest great hope. The 17 year old has been massively hyped in the Catalan media for some time, and there’s a fair basis for that.
He’s been held aloft as the main challenger to Erling Haaland for Tuttosport’s Golden Boy award, and whilst that’s going over the top, and forgetting the existence of Jadon Sancho, it shows just how highly he’s thought of by Barcelona’s closest media.
Recent weeks have seen rumours linking the player with Manchester United. There’s been talk of offers going as high as €150m including bonuses, yet it all felt very unlikely indeed.
Such a sum is too high for the youngster at this stage, and it’s hard to believe it would have been offered.
The player’s father, Bori Fati, has been speaking to the Spanish media about the situation. Talking to El Larguero, his radio comments have been picked up by AS.
When asked specifically about a Manchester United offer, he’s quoted as saying: “It is not true, I do not know if it’s true. We’re happy here, and most of those who leave want to return to the club, and Ansu is enjoying his dreams. What do we want more? Still a lot.”
Fati’s desire is to make it at Barcelona, and he’s not concerned about a lack of minutes, knowing there’s plenty of time to achieve his goals.
The Catalan media have previously reported that Barca officials have denied receiving any kind of offer from United, so this one should probably be put to bed now.
