Spanish side Sevilla are leading the race for Aston Villa fullback Jordan Amavi, according to reports from Estádio Deportivo.

The Seville regional newspaper claims there’s still a long way to go for the club to achieve the signing, but they’re in front. The biggest issue for now is price, as Aston Villa are demanding £10m and not one penny less.

It’s said that Sevilla have already tried to make a move to sign the player for €6m (£5.2m), but that clearly wasn’t enough. The main competition would be coming from France, as PSG and Monaco are also interested in the 23-year-old.

Napoli would also be keen after having a €12.5m offer for Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno rejected, and that money could be used on Amavi. Aston Villa signed Amavi from Nice two years ago for €11m. So even though the player is said to be highly rated at the club, the profit wouldn’t be so big.

PSG’s interest has forced Sevilla to get more realistic with their Amavi valuation, and can only be good for Aston Villa.
