Juan Sebastian Verón’s return to South America wasn’t taken with much excitement by Argentine newspaper El Dia. The outlet, who has been covering the sale of Juan Foyth to Tottenham Hotspur closely, claimed there was no deal between the Spurs and Estudiantes.

And the local press now seems to be agreeing with it. First Diario Hoy published an update on the Argentine side’s squad situation and claimed, despite Tottenham links, the player is ‘not desperate’ to play in Europe.

They say that his family will be very important for him to stay and there will be no rush at such an important time of his career.

Cielo Sports also comes up telling the situation today, saying that although the agreement was not found, there’s not a huge gap between what Tottenham want to pay and Estudiante’s demands, which they put at US$10m.

Verón is now set to sit with the player’s representatives and see what’s the best thing to do. Selling him now and only letting him leave in December, so he can play the Copa Sudamericana for the club, is still a possibility.

The outlet also claims that Zenit, Inter Milan, and Roma have all shown interest as well, so Tottenham are finally getting some competition for the youngster.
