It would not be a crazy idea for Ajax to approach Erik ten Hag and offer him a return to Ajax, if he ends up being sacked by Manchester United.
That’s according to journalist Kenneth Perez and fellow reporter Willem Vissers, who believe there may be an opportunity for the Dutch club on the horizon.
Ten Hag has found himself under increasing pressure at Manchester United following a poor start to the season, with Crystal Palace the latest team to pile on the misery.
That, coupled with a number of issues in the squad, most notably the fall out with Jadon Sancho, have seen the Dutchman facing criticism.
The situation is being closely followed by journalists and analysts alike in the Netherlands, where they would be more than happy to see Ten Hag return to Ajax, the club he left to join Manchester United last year.
They’re going through an abysmal period of their own, with manager Maurice Steijn failing to impress and turmoil off of the pitch.
We’ve already covered comments hoping Ten Hag would be sacked at Old Trafford and Perez and co follow on that path today.
“Imagine if Erik ten Hag were fired, would it be very crazy for Ajax to ask him back?” Voetbal Primeur report Perez saying.
“Manchester United is known for the fact that things can get difficult if things don’t go well. Then it’s not a crazy idea, is it?”
“I think that in the end it just won’t work, that whole project of his there. I don’t think he will be a coach there for much longer,” added Willem Vissers.
