Tottenham are yet to decide what to do with Giovani Lo Celso in the January transfer window, with clubs still interested in signing him.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Real Betis are now the main option after Barcelona seemingly ruled him out once and for all.
The explain that the Catalans are now focused on youngsters Yamal and Fermin, so have ruled out a deal for Lo Celso after considering him a target throughout the summer.
That means an option for the player to get out of Tottenham has now disappeared as he ‘continues to experience an ordeal’ under Ange Postecoglou.
He’s yet to return from an injury but doesn’t appear to be in the Australian’s plans anyway thanks to the success of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as a midfield two.
Their developing relationship and Tottenham’s early season success means it’s unlikely Lo Celso will get in, even if Postecoglou was the one that blocked an exit and insisted he wanted him this summer.
He and Tottenham ‘have not yet made a decision’ on the midfielder’s future and the feeling is Postecoglou is waiting to see how he is post injury. Before then, though, he had only handed him 16 minutes.
‘Not even the player knows’ what his future will be, with a decision yet to be made at Tottenham and his options to leave seemingly falling by the wayside.
Betis are yet to drop out and they would take him back, knowing the player was also keen on a return if he couldn’t get to Barcelona. Work was already done on that front in the summer and could be reactivated if Spurs decide to finally make a decision.
