Norwich City have initiated contact with Carlos Carvalhal, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
The club are currently bottom of the Premier League, and relegation to the Championship is looking increasingly likely. Inevitably, that brings Daniel Farke’s future into question, and much could depend on how strong the club battle for salvation between now and the end of the season.
Record say the contact from Norwich has been informal so far for Carvalhal, who currently manages Rio Ave.
It sounds very much like it’s coming from his camp, because it’s explained that Carvalhal would like a return to the UK, having managed Sheffield United and Swansea City. He’d consider a Championship club, but is ‘not obsessed’ with returning here, and is open to what clubs in Portugal and elsewhere may offer him.
Carvalhal’s contract with Rio Ave expires at the end of this season, and he’d consider staying with them should they put forward a good proposal.
There’s a chance Norwich City are having their name used to flush out other options.
