On Monday, Marca sounded a little more optimistic about Real Madrid potentially signing Paul Pogba this summer.
It was explained Manchester United had allowed some kind of talks to start, although the Premier League club had made it clear they wanted to sign a replacement before getting seriously into talks over the Frenchman’s exit.
On Tuesday, that optimism has gone. The Spanish newspaper explains the tough stance at Old Trafford, and a refusal to come down from a €180m asking price.
Manchester United are said to be going a similar way they did with David De Gea when he wanted to move to Madrid. They didn’t listen to all the noise coming from around the Spanish club, and just got on with their preseason.
Then, when Madrid finally made contact on deadline day, the issue of the ‘fake fax’ came up and the English club kept their goalkeeper.
Marca explain there’s ‘more noise than real movement’ on the Pogba transfer right now, just as there was with De Gea.
It’s once again explained Real Madrid don’t want to ‘enter a dispute’ with Manchester United, a club they feel they have a ‘good relationship’ with, despite what happened with the goalkeeper.
The only way this changes, believes Marca, is if Pogba pushes so much during the preseason tour that it makes his club see a sale as a better scenario.
