AC Milan have turned their attention to Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka as he moves closer to an exit from Villa Park this summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport and Calciomercato, who both say the Italian giants are keen on the highly-rated midfielder.
The newspaper reports that ‘nobody should be surprised’ if Chukwuemeka ends up in Milan next season with them ‘always keen’ on international talent.
CM back this up, stating that they are ‘serious about’ a move for the Aston Villa midfielder, and he is now a ‘concrete target’ for those in charge in Milan.
Indeed he is a ‘hotter track’ than that of Renato Sanches, who has also been linked with a move from Lille this summer.
Milan’s plan is to develop him and potentially sell him on for a profit in future. They’d be open to spending €20m, believing he could be worth three or four times as much in future but believe that figure is ‘destined to be reduced’ unless an auction is triggered.
Calciomercato back this up, stating that Aston Villa are starting with a valuation of €20m but have offers from several clubs, including Barcelona.
Milan, though, are talking with his agent and are aware the youngster has no intention of signing a new deal at Villa Park. That is why a possible €10m offer ‘could be considered’.
One aspect in their favour is their development of talent in recent years, with the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu currently starring in their first team. That is something they hope can ‘charm’ Chukwuemeka into choosing them ahead of the competition.
