‘Allan: Next stop Liverpool’.
This is how Corriere dello Sport present Everton’s relentless pursuit of the Napoli midfielder on Monday, explaining a transfer is just around the corner.
Kicking things off by stating the two clubs are heading ‘towards an agreement’ for the midfielder, the newspaper specify that a ‘couple of million euros’ is all that separates Aurelio De Laurentiis and Marcel Brands.
In fact, it’s so close that ‘one, maybe two phone calls’ could be enough to unblock the situation, since the €25m offered by Everton are now closer to €30m, and that a few more ‘easily attainable’ bonuses should help get it to the €35m demanded by the Serie A club.
As for the player himself, with the transfer window officially just around the corner, this seems to be ‘the right week’ for a move, with Allan expected to present himself ‘suitcase in hand’ (not literally speaking) for his new adventure.
Corriere then point out this is mostly all down to the defensive midfielder, for whom the ‘only destination’ was Everton, regardless of the offers of Atlético Madrid (€15m + Héctor Herrera) or Borussia Dortmund (€25m).
Allan wants to team up with Carlo Ancelotti once more, with the reunion invite ‘unmissable’.
All this is also echoed in Il Mattino, although far more briefly, as they write the player’s transfer is ‘a matter of hours’, with Everton needing to ‘increase’ their bonuses to find that sweet spot.
That’s all from the morning newspapers, but it certainly sounds very, very promising.
