Newcastle United have seen changes off the field in the past two months. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund completed the purchase of the Premier League side in October and appointed Eddie Howe as Steve Bruce’s successor on November 8th.
The Magpies, however, have not see any changes on the pitch as they are yet to register their first league win this season, and are currently stuck at the bottom of the table.
In order to avoid being relegated, the Tyneside club could invest on new players in January. To take care of their transfer business, Newcastle are looking at sporting director Ramón Planes, who left Barcelona a few weeks ago.
According to Cadena Ser, Valencia approached the ex-Camp Nou transfer chief. Planes thanked them for the interest, but is not in favour of joining Los Ches, since he is in ‘advanced talks’ with Newcastle and PSG.
Over in Italy, Telenord state Planes has emerged as a new candidate for Genoa, for their sporting director job. It’s even claimed the Serie A side have held talks with the Spaniard.
With Newcastle, PSG and Genoa interested in appointing Planes, it’s stated the ‘next few hours could be decisive’ to know where the 54-year-old will end up, with things seemingly picking up speed.
