According to claims in the Italian media, Newcastle United are showing an interest in Napoli goalkeeper Rafael.
The 27 year old was linked with a move to Sunderland in May, and that was presented as a second chance for the club.
Towards the end of the 2016 summer transfer window, Sunderland made several attempts to sign Rafael, according to claims in Italy.
Newcastle United have been linked with bringing in an experienced keeper this summer after Matz Sels was loaned to Anderlecht for the season.
The Premier League side have already been linked with Rafael’s teammate Pepe Reina, and more recently Rafael Benitez was showing an interest in Udinese’s Orestis Karnezis.
Benitez knows Rafael well from his time as the Napoli coach, and it’s been reported by Sky Italia via TMW, Newcastle United have already made an approach for the player.
With the transfer window set to close in 13 days Newcastle United will have to act quickly to land the Napoli No.2.
There’s no mention of Newcastle’s rivals Sunderland this time, and perhaps their interest has finally ended.
