For those wondering whether or not Valentino Lazaro is going to stay at Newcastle United beyond the current season, you might have to wait a while longer.
This is what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting on Wednesday, explaining that Newcastle, in their latest talk with Lazaro and his entourage, told the Austria international they have ‘yet to decide’ what to do with him.
It’s not that they don’t like him, it’s just they have only managed to field him a handful of times, which isn’t enough to give them all the information they need to make what is effectively a €20m+ decision.
However, as we all know, stuff like this needs two agreements: the clubs’ and the player’s.
Newcastle have the chance to make the loan from Inter a permanent one for €22m, but even if they trigger it, there is a chance Lazaro turns down the opportunity to stay in the North-East beyond the current season and chooses to return to Italy.
A lot could rest on what happens in the final few fixtures of the season as the Premier League prepares itself to resume later on this month.
