Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra’s price tag keeps rising and is now ‘reaching very high figures’ as the likes of Juventus join Newcastle United in showing an interest in him.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the Serie A side are evaluating a move for the midfielder as he continues to impress in La Liga.
Reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Newcastle are keen on Guerra as they look to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
It was claimed back in September that they were stalking the 20-year-old, with that then followed by claims that Valencia were rubbing their hands at the prospect of a sale.
There’s been little on the matter since then, but with Newcastle now needing a replacement for Sandro Tonali after he was banned for illegal gambling activities, that could quickly change.
They face competition for his signature, though, with Juventus now keen and even sending sporting director Giovanni Manna to watch him personally.
Juventus are seen as the ‘most advanced’ club in the race at this moment in time although there is a problem with his price tag, with his valuation ‘reaching very high figures’ of around €35-40m.
That means the Italian side would need an extra budget to purchase him and that’s before considering there are ‘many clubs’ in the Premier League thinking about him.
One of those may be Newcastle, whose interest is well known by this point, and may need to be turned into something concrete if they wish to win the race.
