After signing Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier back in the January transfer window, it seems that Newcastle United could now go for the Colchonero’s left-back as well.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Magpies are interested in the signing of Renan Lodi this summer, and want to make a strong investment in the player.

It’s claimed that even though Newcastle may not be the most interesting sporting project for the Brazilian, there are two factors that could attract him to the club. One is the money offered, and the other is the chance of playing with someone ‘he considers like a brother’.

That’s Bruno Guimarães, who joined the Magpies in a move from Lyon in January and managed to have a great start at the Premier League side. They played together at Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense and are still friends, so that’s the ‘key’ the English club have to convince him of making a move.

Mundo Deportivo points out that ‘Bruno has already made Lodi see how well he would be with him at Newcastle’, and that would be ‘fundamental’ in the left-back’s decision this summer.

Now despite reporting the Magpies’ interest, the report doesn’t bring any information on how much the Premier League club would have to pay to sign Lodi from Atletico.
