It’s been over three years since Kenedy made his move from Brazil to England, but apparently it hasn’t been enough time for him to learn English.

The 22-year-old has been struggling to learn the language for a while now, and recently got an extra incentive from Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez, who wants all his players speaking the language.

Website UOL brings an interview with the player this Monday, and he admits to be a little bit ‘lazy’ when it comes to learning English.

“I don’t consider it’s hard to learn, I’m lazy, really,” said Kenedy (via UOL). “Now I’m with a private teacher, trying to evolve. Let’s see if it works out.”

Kenedy moved from Fluminense to Chelsea on a €8m deal in 2015. Like many youngsters, he’s had trouble pushing through at Stamford Bridge side, and is now in his second loan spell.

“It is not that I didn’t succeed at Chelsea. I arrived at 19, very young. It was good to be loaned to get more playing time. Better than staying at Chelsea and not play. I hope this year I can make a good season for Newcastle and go back to Chelsea to continue. I have a dream to return and to be a champion for the club.”

“I played at Chelsea with Mourinho, he always helped me and showed me what I had to do in training, what he taught me I take as learning with me, and now I’m learning from another great coach, Rafa.”

Kenedy has already won a Premeir League for Chelsea, but couldn’t play much in that campaign. That’s why he still dreams of winning some silverware playing regularly: “Just being in the Premier League is already a great achievement. A lot of people come and cann’t play. For me, it’s been very good. My dream is to win a major title playing.”
