If Newcastle United do manage to avoid the drop back to the Championship, then we all know that money should be no issue this summer for the Magpies.
After all, Eddie Howe’s side have already spent a lot in January to increase their chances of staying up, which appears to have worked, and with ambitious plans ahead, money should be no issue.
That’s why it isn’t surprising to see Newcastle linked with the odd big name now and then, even if such a signing might seem out of their reach for the time being.
One of those is Paulo Dybala, who is set to leave Juventus on a free in the summer and has attracted interest from all over Europe.
His preference is reportedly to look for something new abroad, and ‘to date’, it’s explained by Corriere dello Sport that both ‘Arsenal and Newcastle have moved’ for the Argentine.
That being said, it hasn’t gone very far just yet, because neither have ‘gone beyond the show of interest’.
This doesn’t mean they won’t in the near future, since it’s clear Dybala will be focusing on ending the season on a positive note with Juventus, and he is ‘still cold’ when it comes to talks ‘despite the fact that he prefers to leave Italy’.
If it comes down to money, it’s clear that Newcastle will have a chance, but a player of the playmaker’s calibre might also want guaranteed European football on offer too, which the Magpies cannot give him just yet.
Time will tell, but at least the Magpies have made their interest known.
