Despite all the talk that Manchester United appear in the lead to sign Victor Osimhen, the Italian media aren’t discounting Newcastle United just yet.
After all, the Magpies were the ones to kickstart this whole thing off late in January, as Eddie Howe tried to bolster his squad as best he could to help the team avoid the drop.
He’s managed to do that without the Nigeria international, but there’s still talk of the Magpies returning in the summer to give it another go.
The problem for Newcastle in all this is the fact other clubs are also wanting the striker, with the aforementioned northern club and Arsenal seemingly keen.
Gazzetta dello Sport recall the Tyneside cub ‘were the first to approach him’, but the issue is that ‘not playing in the European cups means less appeal’.
However, Newcastle have one thing in their favour, and that’s money, meaning ‘pay attention to the economic factor’, because it could be them who ‘make the most advantageous offer for the player’.
We’ll see about that.
