We all know that Arsenal need a new striker, and so do the Italian clubs where the Gunners are seemingly looking.
Napoli are one of those, where Victor Osimhen is reportedly an expensive target for Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta, where a price of €100m or so will be needed to sign the player.
They were already keen before the Nigerian moved to Italy, and have seemingly remained so ever since, because Arsenal are described by Gazzetta dello Sport as the ‘number one contender’ to sign him.
It’s recalled they ‘have been looking at the Serie A for a good forward for months’, as they tried to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January, only to see Juventus swoop in and take him from under their nose.
As for Osimhen, it’s said he ‘intrigues in the same way, if not more, considering the physicality and athleticism they like across the Channel’.
However, ‘given the scale of the investment needed, it will first be necessary to understand whether the Londoners will be able to qualify for the next Champions League’.
As things stand, Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League, having played the same number of games as those around them, two points ahead of Tottenham with five fixtures to go.
