It appears that, for the time being, Newcastle United have a free run at Kalvin Phillips as they continue their attempts to sign the Manchester City player.

This comes from Calciomercato.it journalist Eleonora Trotta on X, who brought an update on the situation surrounding the England international.

She explains that Newcastle United have had ‘new contacts’ with the player regarding a January move to St James’ Park, and reveal that Juventus aren’t in the mix at the moment.

The Serie A side, who have long provided competition to the Magpies for the midfielder, are currently ‘concentrating on other objectives’.

It’s then said that they would be ready to ‘accelerate on the market’ (we’re guessing for Phillips) from January 20th onwards, giving Newcastle a bit of a window to make their own moves and get ahead of the game.

One to keep an eye on, as we all know that the player wants to leave Manchester City and is keen to play as much as possible in the second half of the campaign in order to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for this year’s Euros.
