Last week, journalist Nacho Sanchis reported Newcastle United are ready to offer €25m for Giorgi Mamardashvili, which is €10m less than the fee requested by Valencia.

On Tuesday, we covered claims from Spain that the 23-year-old goalkeeper may not be keen on joining the Magpies due to lack of European football. Later that day, Marca said the La Liga side want €40m for their star.

Newcastle also have Villarreal stopper Filip Jorgensen on their agenda, and Sanchis took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state Eddie Howe’s side view him as an alternative to Los Ches’ star.

Although Jorgensen has kept six clean sheets and conceded 64 goals, his performances have been impressive enough to attract the attention of the Premier League, with Chelsea and Wolves also linked.

Newcastle have regularly followed the Georgia international and it’s claimed that during their trips to Spain, they also went to Villarreal to watch the 22-year-old Dane. He’s one of the main options for the Tyneside club, if they fail to sign Mamardashvili.

Jorgensen has a €40m release clause in his deal that lasts until 2027, and the journalist says Newcastle believe that they can sign him for a ‘much lower price’ of €20m, making him a cheaper option than the Valencia player.

Sanchis adds Villarreal’s aim is to collect as much money as possible, without specifying if €20m is enough to sanction a move for the stopper.
