Failing to impress at both Porto and Stoke City, and hardly setting the world on fire on loan at Toulouse, it remains a mystery as to why Premier League sides remain interested in Giannelli Imbula.
Either way, SFR Sport in France are reporting on Wednesday that both Newcastle and Crystal Palace are ‘seduced’ by the midfielder’s profile, and have enquired about his situation.
On paper, the interest does make some sense, as the Eagles will most likely have to replace Yohan Cabaye come the end of the month, while the Magpies are currently negotiating with Real Sociedad for the exit of Mikel Merino.
This means both sides will require a new midfielder this summer, and Imbula appears to be on their list.
However, the Stoke player would, if possible, rather stay in Ligue 1 to continue his redemption in an environment he feels comfortable in.
His ideal scenario would be to sign for a top eight club in France, but such avenues have yet to open for Imbula.
Newcastle and Crystal Palace do have some competition from elsewhere, however, with both Galatasaray and Torino also interested in saving the former Marseille star from a season in the Championship with Stoke.
