During the past month, there’s been a lot of talk about Manchester United’s negotiations for Angel Gomes’ new contract, which, to flow with the rumours, would have stalled.

The 17-year-old has been by far one of the most talented players in the club’s academy, and the situation made the fans alert, with the fear that something similar to Paul Pogba’s departure to Juventus would happen.

Italian website Calcio Mercato have of course waded into it, saying that Juve are indeed following the youngster’s development, but are unlikely to make a move for him as they did for Pogba.

It’s claimed that there have been no approaches or offers for Gomes, and the reason is because the relationship between Juventus and Manchester United has been quite good in the past three years.

There’s also a general feeling that Manchester United can sort the situation in the next few months. So Juventus would only make an attempt in case the player really cuts ties with the Red Devils.

It obviously may not be the same for other European giants, but it seems that at least the Old Lady are not a threat to Manchester United for now.
