Roma aren’t giving up just yet on Riyad Mahrez.
Despite Leicester City making it as difficult as possible for the Serie A side to get their star man, Monchi, who allegedly flew to America on Monday to meet with his side’s chairman to discuss finances, has a plan.
Unable to meet the €40m+ demands the Foxes are making, their only hope is to convince the Premier League side that €35m, bonuses included, is all they’ll be able to get for the 25-year-old, and they’re going to do that by waiting a bit.
Of course, by doing so, they run the risk of another club swooping in, perhaps a flush-with-cash Premier League one, and stealing their target, but it’s a bit of a necessary one seeing as they are limited financially.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday say that the €35m offer is set to arrive on Leicester’s desk in the first few days of August, as clubs in England start to prepare for the league kicking off, and friendlies are nearly behind them.
This all comes after those in charge of transfers at King Power Stadium let Roma know there has been interest from elsewhere, but that could also be seen as a ploy to get them to make an offer sooner rather than later.
It’s all about mind-games in this one, and it seems like the Serie A outfit, and Monchi, are prepared to play a game of chicken with some Foxes.
Don’t lie, you laughed a little bit.
