Yeni Malatyaspor’s chase for Aston Villa left back Aly Cissokho continues after their vice president Ali Ravcı spoke to Fanatik about the latest developments in his club signing the player.

Ali Ravcı said: “We are still talking with him. Only a couple of minor details left at the moment. I think we are very close to getting him.”

With Neil Taylor seen as the first choice left back under Steve Bruce, Cissokho’s days at Aston Villa are numbered, and a move looked likely anyway.

The player hasn’t been part of Aston Villa’s preseason, and for weeks he’s been linked with a move to Turkey.

Goztepe have also been interested in Cissokho but since they moved on to other targets, Yeni Malatyaspor are now in pole position to sign the former Liverpool defender. However, this isn’t the first time the Turkish media have reported a deal is close, and it’s still likely to drag on.

The Aston Villa defender spent the second half of the season on loan at Olympiacos, but the Greek side didn’t exercise their right of redemption on the Frenchman.
