Middlesbrough are coming to the end of negotiations to sign Alvaro Negredo from Valencia, after completing a deal for Antonio Barragan.
According to a latest report from Tuesday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS, Negredo hasn’t traveled with Valencia for their pre-season tour to the Netherlands.
The Spaniard is expected to join Middlesbrough’s squad in Marbella in the coming hours. Middlesbrough have agreed a loan deal for the player, without a mandatory purchase option.
It is reported Valencia are happy to offload the player from their payroll, and are hoping he regains his form under Aitor Karanka.
The Spaniard made his move permanent from Manchester City to Valencia last season in a €28m deal, and has another three years left on his contract at La Liga club.
That deal was forced upon Valencia in the form of a mandatory purchase option, and it seems they wanted to do the same with Middlesbrough, but couldn’t quite manage it.
