Earlier today we covered claims from Tuttomercatoweb that Everton are serious about trying to sign Matias Vecino this week. It was claimed negotiations are non-stop between the parties involved in a potential transfer.
Inter had first wanted €25m for a straight exit in the January window, but had brought that down to €20m. Everton had got to the €14m level, and it was thought there could be progress in the coming days.
Vecino himself has realised he has no place at Inter Milan, with Antonio Conte not counting on him, and therefore the chance to play for Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park has become more attractive.
Gazzetta dello Sport back that up, with the Italian newspaper’s Monday edition saying ‘negotiations are well underway’ between the clubs. Inter’s asking price is again put at €20m, and Vecino has given his consent over a transfer to Everton.
The Italian club would look for a replacement if they sell the player, although it doesn’t feel like it’s a requirement for them to get someone in before allowing Vecino to leave.
Now it’s just a case of the two clubs agreeing a fee.
