The transfer of Pablo Mari to Arsenal is on the verge of collapse, according to claims from the Brazilian media on Monday.

Globo Esporte says the Gunners haven’t reached a deal with Flamengo, and the defender is now unlikely to make the move.

Mari had flown to London at the weekend, where he met Arsenal director Edu Gaspar and was expected to have a medical and sign for the club.

However, he’s now expected back at Flamengo this afternoon, as the squad is starting their preparation for the 2020 season.

Globo Esporte writes that Arsenal and Flamengo had never reached an agreement for the transfer, as the clubs disagreed about the payment methods. It wasn’t even decided if the player would move on a loan or permanently.

Mari was on vacation at the weekend, so Flamengo saw no problem in him travelling to London, even though they knew an agreement was far from being reached.
