€40m, and not a euro less. That’s what the media close to Udinese have long been reporting about a potential exit for Rodrigo De Paul.

Linked with Juventus earlier this summer, the Argentine has seen that option slip away, and it feels like he’s let go of the Turin dream now.

Messaggero Veneto, a newspaper local to Udinese, reports ‘negotiation remains hot’ with Leeds United, making it clear there’s still a chance of the player signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Even better news may be related to price. The newspaper states Udinese want ‘at least’ €35m, but they then say that €30m plus bonuses should do it. Such a stance is a long way from the ‘€40m or nothing’ which was being pushed not so long ago.

There’s a suggestion Leeds remain ahead, despite recent claims of AS Roma interest and that a club in Spain are keen.

Messaggero Veneto report Zenit had been willing to match the €35m, so that’s why it’s now the figure being pointed to.
