The future of Henry Onyekuru was always going to be something Everton had to deal with this summer.
The Blues signed the Nigerian back in 2017 under Steve Walsh but, due to work permit issues, he’s spent the last two years out on loan.
The first of those was with Anderlecht before he made his mark with Galatasaray last season. Onyekuru proved to be a big hit in Turkey, playing an important role in their title win.
Indeed, for all intents and purposes, it appeared that he would be spending another year there, albeit on improved terms for Everton.
That may not be the case, though, as Belgian newspaper Le Soir report his future could lie in Italy instead.
According to them, Napoli are interested in the 22-year-old and have already made a €16m bid for him. Le Soir say the transfer is ‘on track’ adding that if it is completed, Onyekuru’s former club Eupen will be in line for a payoff.
Interestingly, though, there’s no mention of the move in any of the Napoli based media. They’re usually hot on this sort of thing so for there not to be any mention is strange, to say the least.
Perhaps this is a deal that Napoli will be looking at further down the line if they can’t get other targets first.
