Mourinho in player’s ear, trying to get him to Man United, but Pogba could be an issue

There are so many takes in Spain today on the Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United situation that it’s no surprise to see one insinuating Jose Mourinho may be putting the player off.

Mundo Deportivo, a sport newspaper of the Catalan variety, say Mourinho has been in Umtiti’s ear, trying to convince him on a move to Manchester United this summer.

The transfer fee would be no issue for Ed Woodward and co, with Umtiti having a release clause of just €60m.

Wages from Manchester United would also be more than Barcelona are right now prepared to pay, but Mundo Deportivo suggest that’s not everything.

It’s pointed out that Umtiti will know all about Mourinho’s ‘fighting’ with Paul Pogba at Manchester United, and that could put him off.

On the other side, it’s thought Umtiti’s ‘friend’ Antoine Griezmann joining Barcelona will only further underline the defender’s desire to stay.

That would be tough luck for any Mourinho interest, which obviously pleases Mundo Deportivo.
