On Sunday we brought you a claim from Spain that Manchester City have identified a potential replacement for Leroy Sane.
Mikel Oyazarbal is the player in question and AS were reporting that City would look to pay the player’s activation clause if they were to sell Sane this summer.
The German winger has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich, who haven’t shied away from showing their interest in him, but so far, nothing has happened on that front.
By all accounts, City don’t want to sell, and unless he asks for a move it doesn’t change. However, it seems they have a contingency plan in place regardless.
Mundo Deportivo have now backed up the claims around Oyazarbal from AS and say that City have already been in contact with the player’s representatives.
Indeed, Real Sociedad are said to be fearful that City could make their move and are waiting impatiently for the transfer window to close so that it can’t happen.
The fact La Real are concerned shows there’s definite interest from Manchester City and a high release clause won’t hold them back, mainly if it would just be them reinvesting the money from a sale.
However, until Sane to Bayern becomes more concrete, which there are no signs of today, this one is likely to remain lukewarm at best.
