Of course, there’s updates in the Portuguese media today on Diogo Dalot to Manchester United.
Thursday’s claims said a medical is expected in the ‘next few days’ and also brought an intriguing claim about the price. Dalot is reported to have asked Manchester United to pay more than his €20m release clause as he doesn’t want to fall out with Porto and leave on bad terms.
A Bola subsequently estimated a fee of around €24m.
Friday’s edition of Record puts the figure at €22.5m. The two clubs are said to be negotiating directly annd that figure is ‘currently on the table’.
There still seems to be some mistrust over whose fault it is that Dalot hadn’t already renewed his Porto contract, and had a higher clause inserted.
Criticism being pushed towards the player was pushed back on Thursday with explanations from his side claiming Porto hadn’t exactly been rushing.
Record state that Manchester United paying more than the €20m is a ‘point of honour’ for Dalot and he wouldn’t have agreed to the move without it.
