At this point, it seems the only way Chelsea are going to get rid of Romelu Lukaku from their squad is by agreeing a deal that sees Dusan Vlahovic going the other way.

For Juventus, that will solve a lot of problems, since Max Allegri wants the Belgian in his team and sees him as a better fit than the Serbian, and work is being done behind the scenes to get a transfer over the line.

In fact, some believe that it’s just a ‘matter of time’, like Il Bianconero, before an agreement is found between Chelsea and Juventus.

The current sticking point in negotiations is the money that the Blues will have to spend on top of sending Lukaku to Turin, with the Serie A side wanting €40m or even €50m, while the Premier League club would want to spend ‘at most €30-35m’.

Still, it’s added that both teams are ‘aware that completing the deal would be a success’, as it would solve Chelsea’s Lukaku problem and help Juventus’ bank accounts with a new influx of cash from London.

Meanwhile, speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Giancarlo Padovan speaking about the situation, and does believe that the onus is on the Blues to sell.

He said, relayed by TuttoJuve: “Juventus are in a calm position. It’s Chelsea that must get rid of Lukaku, who is strongly desired by Allegri. He would do anything to get him, but Giuntoli doesn’t want that because he wants a player in return, like Lukaku, and at least €40m.

“He is a decisive player and, in my opinion, the reason Juventus want him now is because they want to win now. They don’t have European cups. While Vlahovic needs the game built around him, Lukaku is better for a less elaborate style of play.”
