Brescia chief Massimo Cellino is in England negotiating with Aston Villa and Watford over potential deals for Jesse Joronen and Jhon Chancellor.
That’s according to Corriere Della Sera‘s Brescia edition, who appear to have mixed up Villa with West Ham in their report on the matter.
They report that Joronen is the ‘number one suspect’ when it comes to potential exits from the Italian side this summer after his impressive performances last season.
He’s available for €8m, which would represent a €3m profit on the €5m they paid last summer, and it’s claimed that Cellino is ‘negotiating in England’ with Watford or West Ham over a move.
However, they state the latter are interested due to Pepe Reina’s move to Lazio, which would be odd given that the Spanish goalkeeper was on loan at Aston Villa, not West Ham, last season.
Therefore, it’s safe to assume that there’s been a simple case of them mixing the pair up and it is, in fact, Dean Smith’s side who are keen, not David Moyes‘.
Joronen is not the only one that both sides are interested in, though, with Corriere also claiming that Villa and Watford are keen on defender Jhon Chancellor.
He’s ‘another possible capital gain’ for the Italian side, who paid less than a million euros for him a year ago.
No asking price is mentioned, but it seems that both clubs have work to do to convince him, with it stated the Venezuelan defender has ‘expressed a preference’ to stay in Italy.
