Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez has been left out of Ajax training today ahead of his move to Manchester United.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who say the defender ‘was not welcome’ on the training field at De Toekomst this morning.
According to the newspapers information, Ajax do not want to ‘take any risks’ with the player ahead of a €55m move to Manchester United.
Martinez has instead been sent to the gym to train on his own.
Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar reached an agreement on the outline of the deal with Manchester United’s board yesterday.
The proposal was then presented to Ajax’s supervisory board and United’s owners in the evening.
Both parties are now back at the negotiating table today and putting the ‘finishing touches’ on the paperwork for the transfer to go through.
If all goes well, Martinez could join Manchester United and former manager Erik ten Haag in Australia this weekend.
In the meantime, he is training alone in the Netherlands to avoid the possibility of any injuries that could scupper his move to Old Trafford at the last minute.
