Each day on their back page, Marca have a column from one of the more senior journalists in the media group.
It shares their opinion on a chosen subject and often some pieces of information relating to potential transfers.
On Tuesday, Roberto Gomez writes that Tottenham are looking to reinforce their squad in the January window, after signing nobody in the summer market.
One of Mauricio Pochettino’s ‘goals’ in this respect is said to be Marco Asensio, the 22 year old Real Madrid player and Spain international.
Pochettino likes the quality of the playmaker, and Marca believe he’d like to have him in his Spurs squad.
In that respect, some kind of approach has been made, and the Spanish newspaper say Asensio has ‘rejected the offer because his only goal is to succeed at Real Madrid’.
These claims could well be some PR work for the footballer, who hasn’t always taken the best steps to please those most critical at his club. Putting out the idea that Tottenham tried, and were knocked back, helps Asensio reaffirm his commitment to Real Madrid.
