Newcastle United are back in for Eibar central defender Florian Lejeune, report Marca on Wednesday.

The Spanish newspaper say Newcastle have ‘returned’ for the player, after showing interest earlier this summer. With many reports in Spain covering Rafael Benitez’s supposed unhappiness at Newcastle’s transfer business, this all makes Lejeune look like one the Spaniard really wants.

Newcastle have tried to be careful (that’s one way of putting it) with their transfer funds so far, not wanting to throw money around just because they’re in the Premier League. However, with it now being well known in Spain that Benitez isn’t exactly thrilled with the lack of business, clubs like Eibar are aware there’s some pressure on at St James’ Park.

Perhaps because of that it’s explained that Eibar won’t let Lejeune go unless Newcastle, or anyone else, meet his release clause.

The good news for Newcastle United is the release clause is just €10m.
