On Friday, Foot Mercato reported Manchester United are ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini.
It was also explained that the Serie A side would find it difficult to hold on the centre-back beyond this season.
Manchester United have taken further steps to try and sign the 20-year-old, according to Sportitalia.
It’s claimed Erik ten Hag’s side have made an approach for the Italy international, but it was not entertained by La Dea. This information was provided by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà during Sportitalia’s Sportitaliamercato.
“There was a survey from Manchester United for Giorgio Scalvini, which was rejected by Atalanta,” he said.
“It will take at least €60m to take him away from Bergamo, but he will not leave in this session, like Éderson and Koopmeiners. The Nerazzurri are involved in three competitions and will not deprive themselves of these players in January.”
Scalvini’s fine displays for Atalanta have seen him attract interest from Manchester United and other top European clubs.
