Benfica’s interest in the Manchester United loanee Joel Pereira is a rumour which is gaining pace in Portugal. First it was A Bola who reported it, and in today’s edition, O Jogo is doing the same.
Just like A Bola did a few days ago, O Jogo claims that Benfica are afraid of losing Ederson to clubs such as Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Inter Milan. And given the age of their reserves (Julio Cesar is 37 and Paulo Lopes is 38), they want a young keeper.
The Eagles have reportedly already started the talks with Manchester United. The deal would have nothing to do with Victor Lindelof’s transfer to the Premier League club.
A source close to the situation has told Sport Witness that nothing has come to the 20 year old so far, who is currently spending season on loan at the Portuguese club Belenenses.
Having arrived from Xamax in 2012, Joel Pereira has a contract with Manchester United until 2020.
